    FREE Carfax Flood Checks

The number of flood damaged cars showing up for sale in Illinois has increased by 96% since 2002. With hurricane season beginning, and with used car buying season and summer travel in full swing, Carfax.com wants to ensure that Illinois consumers are on the lookout.

Carfax is offering FREE Carfax Flood Checks ( http://www.carfax.com/flood ) to used car buyers and owners nationwide to assist them in avoiding flood-damaged wrecks. All you need is your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to get the report.

Last year, Hurricane Katrina left an estimated 250,000 flood damaged cars in its wake. Flood damaged cars are often dried out, repaired cosmetically and then moved to another state to be sold to unsuspecting consumers.

A Carfax vehicle history report will provide many details on a car's past, including flood titles and will indicate if a vehicle has been titled/registered in at-risk areas during flood and hurricane seasons.

    Cut Pet Costs

Pets make great companions and can be a huge stress relief. Their care, however, can become expensive. Some simple ways to cut back on pet expenses are:

    1. Go online! Online pet stores can save you anywhere from 10%-50% depending on what you are shopping for. Not sure where to look? Check out Planet Pets and Pet Market to start.
    2. Compare Brands! You'll be surprised to find that store brand pet foods generally have the exact same ingredients as brand names pet foods, but can be as much as half the price.
    3. See the vet! Yearly vet visits can be pricey, however it's cheaper than paying for medications and shots if your pet gets sick.
    4. Humane Society! In most areas the humane society or animal control has annual or bi-annual pet vaccinations for a severely reduced cost.
    5. Pet Stores! Many times pet stores will have an in-house groomer that is much cheaper than taking your pet to a private groomer.
    6. Look for coupons! You can find coupons for anything from pet food, to pet toys, to veterinarians.

Pet savings for the day: It's summer which means it's flea and tick season. Go to PetSmart to receive 15% off flea & tick solutions. Hurry while the offer lasts!
